Bangladeshi families began settling in Salisbury from the late 1960s, drawn by the opportunity to establish restaurants in a city with few competitors. Over the decades, the community grew beyond restaurants into retail, property, and civic life. The Salisbury mosque became a focal point for the community's religious and social needs.
