Community History

Sheffield's Bangladeshi community arrived largely in the 1960s, many working in the steel industry that defined the city. As Sheffield's industrial base declined, the community adapted and diversified, establishing mosques, schools, and community organisations that continue to serve thousands of British Bangladeshis across South Yorkshire.
