Community History

Portsmouth's Bangladeshi presence grew through the restaurant trade in the late twentieth century, with Southsea becoming one of its most visible centres. The Akash on Albert Road, opened in 1978, is among the oldest enduring Bangladeshi restaurant landmarks on the South Coast.
